Birth is a messy process. Once the baby arrives everything seems to be in full flow; your boobs leak, the baby spits up, nappies leak and explode (what is it with breastfed poo!), you need superstrength maternity pads and the crazy hormones make you cry for no good reason!

It can take a bit longer to get it sorted, but breastfeeding with flat nipples is possible and (after a while) even enjoyable & relaxing!

I had monthly periods for 17 years until January 2006 when I got pregnant. Now a year and a half later I’m enjoying the break that Mother Nature has given me as my reward for breastfeeding!

It struck me a few days ago when taking babypixie for her 9 month checkup how skewed the medical profession’s view of normal baby growth is. I would imagine that as we have breasts and breasts feed babies, then surely then this relationship should be the yardstick by which to measure artifically fed babies’ growth?
