Vegan Green Tea Cupcakes
28 August, 2007 by halfpintpixie
I just read a great review by Mending Mumma of “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World” by Isa Chandra Moskowitz of Post Punk Kitchen fame.
While reading the review, I remembered that I had meant to post a picture of the Green Tea cupcakes I made for Mr Halfpintpixie’s 31st birthday “cake”.
The cupcakes were very green tea flavoured, which was an instant hit! They were also deliciously fluffy, which is quite rare in a vegan cupcake, so yay all round!
The green tea powder was impossible to find in this poor provincial town, so a quick search on japanesekitchen.co.uk and there it was, called Uji No Tsuyu: Green Tea Powder (Matcha/Maccha Gold) not cheap at 8.98Stg for 40g but worth it because a little goes a long way… we’re making vegan green tea icecream next!

i always used http://www.teacuppa.com green tea powder for my cakes, tea, biscuits, ice cream, pudding, jello as well…i love adding some green tea here and there
hmmm, a few days ago I was thinking if I should buy this book, I think I should ; ) Happy belated birthday to Mr. Half Pint Pixie!
I think you should too Isil !!
Oh those look so good. *drooling*
Looks fantastic! I think I will make some myself and enjoy them with my Japanese Sencha Green Tea from http://www.tealaden.com I wish they would carry the Matcha to make them with.
I tried the Chai Latte Cupcakes yesterday and they were delish! I am on a bit of a cupcake strike at the moment as all the sugar is hurting me
so I shall have to try the Agave Cupcakes next. I’ll let you know how I get on!
ooh excellent, chai latte are next on my list.. let us know how the agave ones turn out Mending Mumma!
