ha, ha, very amusing

I had a look at the book we bought when littlepixie was born, you know the type, it goes through their development by age and says “your baby can now see 1 metre in front of them” that type of thing. Haven’t looked at in ages, mostly because it was hidden in the mysterious realms of “under the couch”.
Anyway, in the section on 18-24 months it says
“Your child may start to wake during the night”
ha, ha, ha, haaaaaaaaaaaaa, start? Was she meant to stop doing it at some stage? Ah well, at least I won’t have to experience any culture shock adjusting to her new night-wakenings!
On a related note, does anyone else have a child whose preferred sleeping position is sprawled across you?
I start off lying on my side facing her but she rolls me onto my back when I’m asleep, leans over me, latches onto the opposite boob, and goes back to sleep, happy as a clam. Crazy child!

I hear ya! Still waking every 2-3 1/2 hours all night long here. Every once in a while he’ll tease me and sleep for a 4-5 hour stretch, but as with everything else my DS does - it’s totally random and unpredictable. Those development books are clearly written for AI children, not the real thing ;-).
“does anyone else have a child whose preferred sleeping position is sprawled across you?”
Ah, yes. That is where Lily spends a good part of the time between 3am and 5:30am every night (morning). Although, she doesn’t feed up there, she climbs up afterwards to cuddle and sleep.
Really funny!!
Defne started to do this lately. She nurses in that position and when she’s finished she rolls over,to my side.Sometimes though, she prefers sleeping on my chest.
thanks for cluing me in on that so i know to expect it when julian turns 18 months later this month. oh wait! he already wakes about 5 times every night. hmmm. i call shenanigans. ;oP
excellent ladies, I knew you’d all have similar experiences
Love the picture! Beautiful! Lately I’ve been sleeping with a four year old on top of me (no joke, on top) while my 8 mo. nursing on one side and my 8 year old is snuggling up to me on the other. My dh gets half of the king sized bed all to himself. Sleep is totally over rated…who wants to miss a second of all this parenting fun? I’ll have time to sleep when I have grandchildren.
Oh my word, veganlinda, a 4 year old on top of you! And I thought an 18 month old was heavy! That sounds like a fun sleeping arrangement though
I think that the parenting books were written by the same people who say kids should be “sleep trained” to stay in their own beds and other crazy stuff. I wake in the night and I’m 37, why shouldn’t Reid wake whatever her age?
Beautiful! That’s so cute that you daughter does that!
