Green Tea Popsicles
16 May, 2008 by halfpintpixie
The weather is so very, very nice and hot that I made some juice popsicles for myself yesterday. And as our matcha powder had arrived, I took the opportunity to make some Green Tea Freezer Pops from My Sweet Vegan too. Here’s one in all its rocketship-shaped green-tea glory!

I won’t give my verdict because you know I’m firmly in the “green tea is a lovely drink, why oh why would you flavour confectionery with it?” camp. So I think my opinion doesn’t count here!
And the verdict from Mr. HPP as the resident green tea confectionery nut? He loved it, thought it tasted like all those crazy Japanese sweets. Next time he would prefer to use lemon zest instead of vanilla extract for a real citrusy kick! The recipe offers a choice but I had no lemon zest therefore I used vanilla, all the while suspecting that lemon would have been the favourite!
So, thank you Hannah from Bittersweet for another yummy creation

I think lemon would be perfect in green tea ice pops! Although, I must confess, I never though about making tea into ice pops, never mind GREEN tea!
Thanks for visiting my place this past week; comments make my day

I agree with Tink, I would have never thought to make popsicles out of green tea. As much as I love tea, I don’t know if I am ready for this frozen treat.
I am completely with the both of you, it’s very odd, but hubby is on a mission to try every green tea flavoured item in the world! And I am his hapless accomplice in this task
Sounds interesting.I love making ice tea with herbal teas in summer but have never thought of pop siecles.
Btw. it has been really cold here since a few days, around 11 degrees, brrr!!
Isil, it was about 19 degrees yesterday here, very hot for Galway
11 and 19 degrees!!! And to think I was complaining because it was 65 and raining! Sometimes its important to put things into perspective. When you do, they never seem as bad.
Hah, ha teaescapade that’s about 18 degrees C, a balmy summer’s day here, with sunhats and suncream and lots of sunburn
